Usage and Handling:

Remove orange protective tip cap from the black syringe body by turning counterclockwise. Save this cap to reseal a partially used syringe after use.

Attach the dispensing nozzle by pressing the plastic end onto the dispensing end to the syringe body and turning clockwise until firmly seated.

Note: Adhesive is light sensitive and will thicken or gel at the end of the dispensing tip if exposed to sunlight and or fluorescent and incandescent lights for prolonged periods of time. If thickening or soft gelation occurs at the dispensing tip simply extrude fresh adhesive through the tip to clear nozzle. If adhesive becomes firmly gelled, then replace the nozzle tip.

Store sealed syringes @ 60-85F.

Preparation Procedures:

  1. Parts to be repaired should be fully UV postcured prior to handling. Follow UV chamber manufacturer's recommended exposure times for the size of parts to be cured.
  2. Lightly touch sand the mating surfaces of the parts to be joined with 150-220 grit sandpaper to just remove the gloss.
  3. Wipe clean the part surface with 99+% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). Make sure surface is dry prior to application of adhesive.

Application/Repair Procedures:

For fine cracks/fractures

  1. Place part on a flat surface and align cracked surfaces.
  2. Carefully dispense UVBOND SL-Lo along bondline surface.
  3. Allow adhesive to penetrate into bondline.
  4. Apply UV light source to cure adhesive.
  5. If necessary, turn part over and repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 to completely fill fracture/crack.

Joining parts and/or breakage repair

  1. Carefully dispense a small amount of UVBOND SL-Hi to tack down the corner/edges of the parts to be joined.
  2. Apply firm pressure to join parts, allowing excess adhesive to extrude from bondline. Wipe off excess adhesive prior to exposure to UV light to minimize amount of rough sanding needed after cure of adhesive.
  3. Apply UV light to cure tacking adhesive.
  4. Carefully dispense UVBOND SL-Lo along the length of the bondline.
  5. Allow adhesive to penetrate into bondline.
  6. Apply UV light source to cure adhesive.
  7. If necessary, turn part over and repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 to completely fill bondline.
  8. Fill remaining seam with UVBOND SL-Hi and screet down excess until surface is smooth.
  9. Cure adhesive with UV light.

Cure Time Guidelines:

For a 1/8" diameter drop of adhesive the cure time is approximately 3-5 seconds using and EFOS 100SS Plus light wand at full power fixed directly over the drop at a distance of 1/8" above the drop.

Note: This is a guideline only and the user must determine the duration of UV exposure based on light source used, age of the bulb, amount of adhesive, and depth of cure.

Safety and First Aid:

UVBOND SL-Lo/Hi and UVFILL TX are blends of acrylated monomers and oligomers, which is generally considered safe for use. None of the ingredients used are suspected of known carcinogens. As with all chemicals, use the systems in well-ventilated areas and avoid breathing vapors. In case of eye contact, flush with fresh clean water for at least 15 minutes; for skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, drink at least one pint of water and call a physician. Refer to the Material Safety Sheet for more details.
